The holy city is visible from the roofs in an extraordinary way. Tour two of the biggest monastic institutions in the world, Sera and Drepung. At Drepung are the chorten tombs of three Dalai Lamas. One of Tibet's best-preserved monasteries is Sera.

After admiring the world's highest mountain view from Rongbuk, go through the breathtaking.

Trip Itinerary

We will meet and travel to the airport in Kathmandu in the morning for the breathtaking hour-long flight to Lhasa. We will fly across a large portion of the spectacular Himalayan range on a China Southwest Airlines Boeing, enjoying the mountain views the entire time. Our Tibetan guide will be waiting for you at Gonggar Airport after you have touched down. The actual city of Lhasa is 90 kilometers away and takes us two to two and a half hours to arrive at by Land Cruiser. At the hotel, O/N.

A guide will bring you to several of Lhasa's numerous monasteries on the second day. Sera Monastery, a sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls from the fifteenth century, will be the first one we visit. A few kilometers north of Lhasa, this well-kept monastery is inhabited by several hundred monks. We will go to the Jokhang Temple and the Dalai Lama's summer residence, Norbulingka, in the afternoon. The most treasured shrine in all of Tibet, this temple is frequently crowded with devoted worshippers. Additionally, we will be permitted to shop at Barkor, Lhasa's busy main market.

The indispensable Potala Palace is a must-see on every journey to Tibet. This palace is a marvel of Eastern architecture and Lhasa's most recognizable landmark. Your first glimpse of this enormous building will be a strange experience you'll never forget. The Dalai Lama once resided there, and it has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century. A trip to the Drepung Monastery will mark the conclusion of this extraordinary day. 10,000 monks originally resided in the Drepung monastery, which is now concealed amid steep slopes just outside the city. Surprisingly, the edifice remained mostly unaltered during the Cultural Revolution.

The top of Nazin Kang Sa may be seen from the stunning view at Khamba La. indeed, a breathtaking view. We will cross the Karo La, a high pass surrounded by impressive glaciers, as we continue westward. We'll spend the remainder of the day admiring the numerous gorgeous landscapes and beautiful Tibetan villages we pass by. The day will come to a close in Gyantse. In this ancient city, we'll stay in a hotel for the night. Holy Lake, O/N.

We're going to Gyantse Dzong first thing in the morning. This fourteenth-century fort gives some of the most breathtaking views of Gyantse and the nearby valley. We'll also stop by the famous Gyantse Kumbum before we leave. The greatest stupa in all of Tibet is this spectacular multi-tiered construction. If the stunning gold dome wasn't enough, this stupa is filled with Tibetan artwork.

We traveled just 90 kilometers today to reach the second-largest city in Tibet. Shigatse is a relaxed city that offers great chances for both leisure and exploration. We'll take a group tour of the Tashilhunpo Monastery and the neighborhood market. One of the largest still-operating monasteries in Tibet is Tashilhunpo Monastery.

As we drive down the Friendship Highway, the views of this desert plateau are a fantastic source of pleasure. Some of Tibet's most breathtaking scenery may be found in this section. We will cross Gyatmso La, the highest pass on our route, after passing through the small settlement of Lhatse. After Gyatmso La, the landscape quickly drops to the plains. We will pass a lot of nomadic herders, peaceful farmland, and remote monasteries as we move into the plains.

We will only go a short distance after leaving Shegar before leaving the Friendship Highway. As we cross Pang La, our four-wheel-drive vehicles will lead us south toward the main Himalayan range. From the peak of Pang La, you can see for miles. From Makalu to Shishapangma, one can view. When we enter the Rongbuck valley in the afternoon, Everest will suddenly come into view. This is your first opportunity to see this magnificent peak.

Trip to Everest Base Camp (5090 m) The North Face of Mount Everest, also known as Mount Qomolangma in Tibetan, is the highest point on Earth and is reached after a two-hour hike from the Rongbuk Monastery.

Drive back from Tingri, depart from Tingri, and travel over two more breathtaking passes: Lalung La and Shung La. Once more, the views from the passes are stunning. Grandiose mountains like Shishpangma, Cho Oyu, Gauri Shankar, and others are visible from these passes. Driving to Nyalam should be done in the afternoon. To get to the little settlement of Zhangmu, start descending from the barren Tibetan plateau.

From Zhangmu, proceed downhill to the Friendship Bridge, where the group's vehicle is waiting, and then proceed to the Nepalese border. The Friendship Bridge is just a few kilometers away from Zhangmu and spans the border between China and Nepal. It crosses the stunning Bhote Koshi River. Sadly, we now have to bid our Tibetan guide and driver farewell. At the Kodari immigration control facility, a member of our Nepalese staff will meet you and assist with the necessary reentry paperwork. Five hours to the south is where the city of Kathmandu is located. O/N in Kathmandu's hotel
