Highlights

Overview

The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a hidden gem that provides an equally rewarding journey in the Annapurna Himalayas as well as some of the most spectacular Himalayan mountain views in just a few days. Unlike the well-known Annapurna Circuit Trek and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, the Mardi Himal Trek is untouched and offers a peaceful walk in nature. Teahouses have opened along the trekking route to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m/14,760 ft) in recent years, allowing trekkers to trek without carrying camping and food essentials.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel (1400m , 4593ft)

Welcome to the city of temples and the Himalayan country. At Tribhuvan International Airport, Adventure Glacier Treks will gladly greet you. Outside the airport terminal, our airport representative will be waiting for you with a placard with your name written on it. A private vehicle will transport you to the hotel from there. Overnight in Thamel, refresh yourself and walk around.

Day 2 : Drive to Pokhara ( 822m,2696ft)

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus. Usually, “Tourist “ buses depart at 7:00 am from Kathmandu and take 6-7 hours depending on road conditions.  After arriving at the hotel, taking rest at hotel or go for a walk around the Lakeside or maybe paddle some of the lakes. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 : Drive to Phedi and trek 3-4 hours to Pothana (1890m, 6200ft)

After eating breakfast in Pokhara, we will drive for around 40 minutes before beginning our Mardi Himal hike. We'll ascend the stairs starting at Phedi. Up till we get in Dhampus, a Gurung settlement renowned for its breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu, the trail ascends all the way to Pothana through rhododendron and pine forests. We'll keep climbing until we arrive in the sleepy village of Pothana, which is surrounded by trees and offers stunning mountain vistas. The TIMS/ACAP card will also be provided to us at the Pothana checkpoint. Pothana overnight

Day 4 : Trek from Pothana to Forest Camp (2554m,8379ft) About 5 hours trek

We will begin our walk after a hearty breakfast with a steep ascent through dense forest and stunning views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains. We might see some of the unusual animals and birds that call the forest home if we're lucky. We will arrive at the woodland camp after around five hours of walking, then overnight at Forest Camp .

Day 5 : Forest Camp to High Camp (3980m,13057ft) trekking about 5 hours

The rhododendron and juniper forest is skirted by the trail as it ascends steeply from the Forest camp to the High camp. The daily routine includes a higher climb to get over a hill, followed by a period of time spent mostly level before beginning the climb once more. We will be richly rewarded with stunning views of Mount Macchapuchre and the Annapurna range once we reach the summit. Spend the night at High Camp.

Day 6 : Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4350m,14271ft) trekking about 5 hours

To truly appreciate the breathtaking morning view of the Annapurna range from the high camp, we'll get up early. We will begin the ascent to Mardi Himal Base Camp, which is located at 5300 meters, after breakfast. The hike is challenging since it involves walking along a rocky, narrow track. The breathtaking mountain views and clean surroundings at the Mardi Himal Base Camp richly reward the day's tough effort. We will circle back to high camp after spending some time at base camp. High Camp or Low Camp for the night (depending on our choice and pace).

Day 7 : Trekking about 6 hours to Siding Village

Reversing our steps, we'll descend steeply to low camp, from where we'll hike through the jungle to Mardi Khola. After a beautiful trek through the forest and along the river, we will arrive in the friendly and welcoming community of Siding. Sleep in Siding Village overnight

Day 8 : Trekking about 2 hours to Saidighatta and drive to Pokhara

After a filling breakfast, we will begin our slow descent to Lumre. The trail gently descends through grasslands and passes through scenic Tamang and Gurung villages as it follows the curve of the Mardi River valley. Our vehicle will be waiting for us at Lumre for the 1.5-hour trip to Pokhara. Overnight in a Pokhara hotel.
