Highlights

Overview

You will get to know the locals and their culture during your first few days of sightseeing, which will also give you time to adjust to the climate. The Kodari Border, which is the Nepal-Tibet border and is renowned for its excellent views of the central Himalayas, is reached on the final stage of the journey along the Arniko Highway. Our mountaineering journey comes to an end with a hike nearby. You can see the productive Yarlung valley from a fortress built by the first Tibetan monarchs, which is located close to Tsetang (3400 m). We will stop at Samye, the oldest monastery in Tibet, along the route to Lhasa. The drive takes you over passes that are over 5000 meters high, providing stunning views of the snow-capped peaks and waving prayer flags.

We go by Tibetan homes with flat roofs and the turquoise Lake Yamdrok. Important monasteries with a wealth of sculptures and murals, like Tashilhunpo and the Kumbum, are visited by Shigatse and Gyantse. Many of them, including the Potala Palace, Norbulinka Palace, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, Ganden Monastery, Gyantse, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Sighatse, and Tsetang, are the main attractions of the tour. The secular and spiritual capital of Tibet, Lhasa (3600 m), is our destination for two days of sightseeing. You will view the Jokhang, Tibet's most sacred temple, the Potala Palace, towering high above the city, and the Drepung Gelugpa monastery. We drive from Nepal to Tibet across the vast Tibetan plateau, catching glimpses of the Himalayas and the Trans-Himalayas.
